Hurricane Harvey: Airlines make flight change fee waivers or refunds

Hurricane Harvey is prompting major airlines to make flight change fee waivers or refunds available to travelers with flights over the next few days. The Category 4 storm has begun to pound the Texas coast and its millions of residents.

So far, six major airlines as of Thursday (Aug. 24) started issuing fee waivers to change flights into, out of or through airports mostly located in Texas. For now, just two airlines are issuing waivers for Louis Armstrong International Airport.

Here are the airlines that have issued change-flight fees waivers in advance of hurricane Harvey so far:

Frontier

Customers who have booked flights to travel between Thursday (Aug. 24) and Sunday can make one itinerary change fee of charge — so long as their flights were booked on or before Wednesday.

This itinerary leeway applies for flights to, from or passing through Louis Armstrong International, as well as three Texas airports including Austin-Bergstrom International, San Antonio International and Houston Bush Intercontinental.

JetBlue

Fees and fare differences are being waived to change or cancel flights for customers traveling Friday through Saturday.

Airports affected include Louis Armstrong International, as well as the Houston and Austin airports.

Delta

Customers can secure a refund for cancellation or long delays (90 minutes or more) for flights Friday through Saturday into, out of or through Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport. You can also make a one-time itinerary change free of charge.

Fee waiver for trip changes available for customers traveling Friday through Sunday to, from or through a variety of airports in Texas and Louisiana. Those airports include Lake Charles, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, Brownsville, College Station and McAllen.

Change-trip fee and fare difference both waived for flights Friday through Sunday to, from or through several Texas airports. Those airports include Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, Brownsville, College Station, McAllen and Harlingen.
